frustrated

when i got home last night from a ride... there was beechum, and he wasn't looking too happy. he's been fending off the advances of this grey femme kitty that has been lurking around the house lately. she must be in heat and beechum, being that he's fixed, can't help her out. sorry little buddy... i feel for ya.

coming home this afternoon i discovered someone on my steps. he didn't have a collar, spooked easily, and wouldn't let me get too close so i'm thinking he might be a stray. he sure is a pretty kitty. i wanted to make him feel welcome but i was a bit worried that he was living his last moments because right around the corner beechum was outside lounging on the back steps and apparently unaware that another kitty was in his territory. when they met face to face it was a bit tense. big ol' beechum chased off the interloper a few times before i ran upstairs and grabbed a few cans of fancy feast that i had for just a situation such as this. i finally got them to eat together... though ten feet apart. they kept a close eye on each other as they ate and then the new kitty made his exit. i'll have to get some more catfood just in case the little guy comes back again.

it's almost halloween, and beechum looks ready to pounce on any trick-o-treaters.

well look who was outside hanging out on the backstep today. beechum was keeping to himself as he enjoyed the weather and kept watch over his domain.

she's getting bigger...

...and bolder. the other day she made it half way down the stairs before being spotted by beechum (the downstairs neighbor's big black cat, he's like three times her size) and they had a kitty stare down for a few minutes. i'm sure they'll be buds before long.

even though i've bought a few toys for the kitty she instead prefers to play with household items... such as balls of string, rubber bands, tissue paper, and one of my campy record 10speed rear derailleurs.

last night i let the kitty out for a bit and she met a new friend. i wasn't sure if it was beechum (because the downstairs neighbor doesn't let him stay out overnight) so i think it was yet another big black cat from the 'hood. even though he was huge my kitty held her ground, and she even went after him on the roof (which made getting her back inside kinda difficult).
