violet dawn
20 degrees isn't wicked cold when you think about it, but i'm not adjusted to it yet. the dawn sky was pretty though.

lazy monday
i went down to the mill and passed the afternoon with a latte and a few chapters of villaseƱor's rain of gold. i'm feeling pretty lazy after the holiday. i don't want to go to work tonight, but oh well back to the grind.

eagles
last weekend i built up the old steed into street fixed gear mode. i managed to find the original bar plugs that came with the frame back in the '89. it got me thinking about eagles and symbolism. eagles were big with bike makers way back when but not anymore. i think the bianchi eagle is the oldest, and if carnielli had stayed in business the bottecchia eagle would have been pretty old too.

partay
i was at a fun birthday party with a number of peeps from the local scene. what a pleasure it was to find this in the kitchen. there is no better tool to use for opening a wine bottle than the campagnolo corkscrew. i've put off getting one for many years (they are quite pricey) but i will delay no more.

UEP thursdays
Urban Exploring with Peeps. taura was trying to stay warm outside of knickerbockers while we waited for dirty D to show up. she put a cool weldor girl decal on the downtube of her bike cause she still likes to represent. she was a weldor at one time and i think she should get back into it, but this time making bike frames! :) anyways, after some .25 tacos the three of us did some urban exploring. oh, and nice gloves james.

watch out
it looks like someone got t-boned by a minivan. they already had the person in the ambulance when i rode by. their bike didn't look too bad from where i was, so hopefully he or she isn't hurt seriously. this is at 18th and M streets, an intersection many of us ride though daily on our way to and from downtown. even though we have the right-of-way here you have to be wary. drivers don't look for bikers most of the time anyway but it's even more dangerous at dawn and dusk.
