on my way through downtown before heading out for a ride i ran into taura as she was gettin' off work. after a brief chat, and comparing her outfit and mine, she headed off to do whatever taura does on a wednesday evening. see you friday taura, i'm sure you'll have some interesting stuff up in your studio.

looks like someone finally bought the neon pink chrome bag that's been down at the MWC for quite a while now. debra said, 'it goes perfect with my bike' and off she went on her pink cruiser as the pickup in front of us spewed exhaust.

night time buddies

as some of you know i work overnight. when i go outside for some fresh air (or an impromptu time trial through campus for coffee) i encounter a few familiar creatures. this spider has been building a web in the same spot most of the summer right outside the building where i work. and this campus wild kitty... well i've seen him most nights for a year now. he doesn't let me get too close for a decent shot. this is where i usually see him in the morning just before i ride home.

this schwinn breeze outside the coffee house caught my eye. i dig the purple, perhaps the owner is a prince fan.

casseroll lovin'

i ran into cathleen as she was coming back from holmes lake. i could tell that she is loving her new bike, she said that she's been riding it everyday. she invited me to go on the nacho ride tomorrow.

it was just nate and i today riding out to platte for the bacon.

the tnmwr had barely started and already there were some casualties. dk crashed into mw's wheel and it broke right at the seam. after a quick fix (bending it back to where it's barely rideable) we headed to nate's house for a spare wheel.

midnight snack

i ran into andrew downtown and he had something to show me. he pointed to one of the spokes of his front wheel and there was a passenger. he said he sometimes locks his bike out in front of his apartment with some bushes closeby. apparently a spider had made a web in his spokes and even after andrew rode around a bit before arriving downtown the spider was still there, devouring his latest catch.

it's big

on my san fran trip back in april i found the medium size chrome roll-top to be a bit too small for my needs so i've upgraded to the sultan. now i'm all set for future trips. but it's not just a travel pack, it's also useful for doing errands like laundry. it can hold 3-4 loads.

only .50 cents

i stopped at the cenex out at the bennet turnoff on my way back into town. a can of pop is only .50 cents there. that's late 80's pricing.

a 50 mile ride on one hour sleep? oh well, what the heck. i decided to meet up with janna and team fire on their breakfast ride to seward for the fourth. after finally finding a good breakfast buffet (the bacon at the firehouse was sooo good!) they headed back to lincoln while i stayed and went to the lawn of the courthouse to relax and wait for my friend julie to show up. even though she's an NYC upper west side girl now, she always comes back to her hometown for the fourth.

100 mpg?

with gas prices climbing higher and higher, i bet we'll see more of these setups. move over harley, make way for the golden eagle.

after midnight

on my midnight latte run to the coho i ran into gypsy and a few of his buddies on campus. they were trying to do stuff like this. let's just say they have a lot of practicing to do. i've tried riding backwards a few times, and i can bunny hop a bit but i'm leaving everything else to these kids. i'm too old for that stuff, i'd break my arm or something for sure.
