erica y rocinante
my friend erica always loved my bike rocinante. i caught her as she was on her way to catch the shuttle to omaha for her flight back to tucson. she's been living in the desert for a few years now. i forgot to ask her if she misses the snow.

latte to go
gravel
took the new steed out on some dirt roads this morning. it was cold (~30 degrees), and i hate having to get all suited up to ride in those temps, but gravel riding is a fun way to get in some winter miles. there are lots of good roads with very little if any traffic, i usually head west or south of lincoln. get a cross bike and you're good to go.

capstone
the capstone exhibition was tonight.
my good friend julie had her last show. the textile and design pieces showed an attention to craft (everything screen printed and sewn) that was second to none. good luck in nyc julie, or wherever else your talent my take you!
my friend brent had his final show too, and this piece was quite impressive... a self portrait in pennies. he's leaving next week to colombia to teach english for half a year. buena suerte amigo! and one more friend i have ridden bikes with who also was in the capstone... props to my friend gina (aka super G). your absence pieces were really deep.

sarah's fahrrad
this is my friend Sarah's bike. she was living in Berlin for the last few years and is now relaxing back home in Colorado. Sarah passed through Lincoln last month, and i was able to meet up with her and some good friends and welcome her back to the states. there is nothing like good friends cooking a nice meal. Sarah and Eva made spanish croquetas and spanish quiche along with some tilapia and a delicious vegetable roast. Sarah misses Berlin a lot, especially her beloved bike. she had to sell it before she returned to the states. she paid like 130 euro for it a few years ago when she first got there. she had it tuned up, bought new fenders, a shifter, and new racks and a basket. she also touched up the paint herself. it served her well during her time there. she lived in Friedrichshain, and a five minute walk from the big Velodrom arena. Berlin sounds pretty cool and i'd like to go there sometime and check it out. Sarah suggested i move there, and she said with her connections she could even hook me up with a job riding my bike. hmmm... i shall contemplate a move.

it was a nice day for the cyclocross races at pioneer's park. ofcourse there was the usual crowd of hooligans on the hill.
