heading out
the weather was perfect. we got out of town just before dusk, and we arrived to eagle around 8:30. we had some good food and bevs at the one eyed dog, ya.. fun time had by all.
to eagle
monica pulled up on an nice oldschool b-stone rb-2.
i'm diggin' keriann's setup (old schwinn cruiser fork converted to threadless, with a carbon spacer in the stack too...).
nic and keriann ready to go
my friend brent was organizing a saturday night casual ride to eagle, so i met up with him and a few other peeps downtown.

suiting up, heading out...
the thursday night taco ride, up in iowa on the wabash trace trail. i've always heard about it and wanted to check it out. me and the gals (kim, nicol, and janna) did just that. once kim and nicol got their tights on, we headed out.

gorgeous monday
what a beautiful day it was, and ofcourse i had to go for a long ride to enjoy it. i headed up to Branched Oak lake for a few laps. on the way out on north 14th i was stuck behind a tractor for a bit, then i endured the stench of a bait shop to pick up a brew (ok, it was really gatorade), and finally... i saw quite a specimen of a horse on the far side of the lake before heading back. he was a beaut. as he stared me down he probably was wondering why i rode a horse that was much smaller than he was, and with two round hoops intead of legs and hooves.

nice headbadge
got to ride ep's custom steve potts 29er. more expensive than most used cars, but worth it. the headbadge is one of the sweetest in the biz.
spiked studs
met this dude named brook down at the shop today. he had this really cool schwinn cruiser he built up. he said the rust was just the right color he wanted so i don't think he plans on painting it. i'm guessing that everything probably cost him less than $30. i dig the upholstery on the saddle, and the spiked studs are a nice touch.

high-wheeler
i met this guy named Ivan Guthmiller from South Dakota. he likes building old style high-wheeler (or 'penny-farthing') bikes. he also showed me pictures of a few pre-1900 style cars he built, pretty cool work. email him if you'd like to see the stuff he's built (bikeman@nvc.net).
newsboy
the mercy rule man himself, johnny T, was there too. here he's discovered what must be an early merlin newsboy non-ti prototype frame. it felt heavy like a schwinn, but no... that merlin decal means it must be that early 'raw' titanium.. uh huh. if you believe that john and i have a car to sell you.
gloves
ran into julie and ben down at the meet. she found some oldschool cotton crotchet backed leather cycling gloves for real cheap.

where are those mofos?
was going to catch up with the guys on the ride up to Davey, but hell if i know which way they took. i went the same way we went last time, and was only running 25-30min behind, but never caught them. oh well, still was a nice solo ride.
