watch out

it looks like someone got t-boned by a minivan. they already had the person in the ambulance when i rode by. their bike didn't look too bad from where i was, so hopefully he or she isn't hurt seriously. this is at 18th and M streets, an intersection many of us ride though daily on our way to and from downtown. even though we have the right-of-way here you have to be wary. drivers don't look for bikers most of the time anyway but it's even more dangerous at dawn and dusk.

this afternoon i stopped by campus to see the sheldon's exhibit of graciela inturbide photographs. they are fascinating to say the least. this photograph, entitled 'el viaje', was one of my favorites.

nite ride

super hoss called it, friday nite ride. man, it was primo. a great time, especially the part coming back with no lights, just by the mooonlight.

trick o' treat

can anyone guess which one i did? i had a fun time last night carving pumpkins with some fellow lincoln-roadies. thanks to kim c for the great food and hospitality.

got a flat in princeton. in the short time it took to fix it several big trucks rolled by. looks like those guys are busy non-stop.

when i got home last night from a ride... there was beechum, and he wasn't looking too happy. he's been fending off the advances of this grey femme kitty that has been lurking around the house lately. she must be in heat and beechum, being that he's fixed, can't help her out. sorry little buddy... i feel for ya.

royale rides

i was hanging out with royale this afternoon, and my good buddy smoothie showed up to say hi. he's a cool cat, but like i've said many times.. royale spoils him. it's nice to know that some local celebs do like to ride their bikes. royale showed off her urban riding skills as we headed downtown for some coffee.

i was heading up north on the trail that goes up to superior st, and as i'm about to pass under cornhusker hwy something caught my eye. i turned around to have a closer look and found a good sized momma wolf spider with all her babies on board. i snapped a few before she scurried off into the grass.

craving crepes

i called up my good friend taura for breakfast... she wanted crepes so we headed to village inn (yeah we know that vi isn't the best place for crepes, but it's close by and it was damn windy out and we didn't want to ride far). i've been wanting to swap her drop bars for something more comfy, so after stuffing ourselves we went to over to my bikeshop (aka kitchen) to do some maintenance. she now has nitto moustache bars on her baby and she likes them a lot. oh... and she loves her brown suede boots a lot too.

my friend kate was in town briefly before she heads back to paraguay (she's doing the peace corps thing). kate is the only woman i know who can ride my 61cm bianchi SL track bike with no problem, it fits her perfectly actually. she is a fellow bianchi aficiondo and was so happy to ride her beloved marcelo again, even if it was only for a day.

almost harvest time

i went up to do the taco ride on the the wabash trace trail with some friends. fall is the best time to go, as the views of fields at this time of year are quite picturesque.

let's see... got to bed around 3am... woke up around 7am. i didn't eat much last night so i was hungry. i called up janna and we headed down to one of lincoln's posh dining establishments. on the way there janna couldn't stop messing with her scab. oh... nice socks janna.

actually, it's just water. we hosed janna's leg off to help clean her road rash. next time janna, keep both hands on the bars when jumping curbs.

i went down to the swap meet to see what was up. i seriously considered buying this '69 typhoon.

porche cayman s, $60k = chick magnet for sure. my bianchi pista SL is worth about $700 = not a chick magnet. but i'm still cool.. fool!

my bianchi is no longer the only bike seen in the hallway at work. in the last month two of my co-workers have gone down to buy bikes at the wrench and started riding to work.

tuesday is singletrack night

drive-thru

2am on a saturday night is not a good time to hit the d'leons drive-thru. there were A LOT of cars and drunk students on foot... because of the football game earlier no doubt. the good thing about d'leons is that you can go through the drive-thru on a bike. when you pull up to order they won't know you're there unless you push a little doorbell to the upper right of the menu.
