i was helping my friend taura do some dress shopping. we had an argument over what color was the dress in the window. she said baby blue and i said teal. but now i think it's actually more of a light turquoise or aqua. it also looks pretty close to bianchi blue.

20mph

coming in from bennet just before dark. i was really going about 30+mph all the way but i had to slow down to take this pic.. uh huh. (if you believe that i have a car to sell you). i almost didn't go for a ride tonight. i was inside worshipping the ac, but i changed my mind and headed south through the roca rollers in the 99 degree heat. it wasn't too bad, and toward the end the clouds came in and it cooled off just a bit.

hangover cure

had some tequila and a number of negro modelos last night, but i got my ass up and headed out for a ride anyways.

colin has a new fixie built up. it's the old centurion frame that has been floating around lincoln for awhile. damon gave him a framed vintage ad to go with it. though i'm sure the turn-of-the-century centurions made in england aren't related to the japanese ones from the 70's and 80's, it's still a cool added touch.

monday night easy ride. after cruising through the roca rollers the ladies felt like riding on limestone so they got on the jamaica trail for the last few miles back into town. even though i hate how quickly the white dust gets all over the bike (and wreaks havoc on a drivetrain) i followed, cause i always follow the ladies. ;)

i was running late for the tnmwr but got word that they were heading out on the mopac to eagle. i ran into jp just as i was leaving town at 84th street and we time trialed it to catch up with the group.

road closed?

we were cruising through the roca rollers and we passed through some 'road closed' barricades. sometimes that means it's closed just to cars so we kept going. a mile later we had to do a little cyclocross action across the bridge.

my position on the new frame is dialed in pretty close to where i want it. i put it in the big ring and time trialed the last 12 miles back to town and was in the drops the whole time. nothing went numb, props to the fizik arione saddle.

seven samurai

i went up to omaha for the grand opening of the new cinema. i finally got to see seven samurai on the big screen. it was well over 3 hours long, but what a classic.

we had a decent group of peeps out on the ride tonight. even little burke showed up. the kid is only 11. with his dad showing him the ropes he has a fast future.

bikin' across america

i headed south to meet up with janna and two of her old college friends, jean and rob, who are riding cross-country for the 'wish ride across america.' janna had ridden out to meet them in fairbury on saturday (and this was after her winning ride in the state games time trial earlier that morning) and rode with them into lincoln today. damn, janna sure knows how to put in those miles.

i'm still getting used to my new carbon frame. the sexy iridescent paint mesmerizes the rider into thinking he is fast. it's very deceptive.

oh them rollergirls...

it was a nice friday evening, and i cruised downtown for a bite with my friend taura (aka skelataura). we ended up at ali babas for some chicken kebab. i dig taura's old school b-stone bike with a sweet set of velocity deep V track wheels. no doubt the years living in san fran and having bike messengers as roomies had an influence on her choice of parts. (and yeah, i finally got a new camera phone)
